Future CPA

These two words were displayed on an illustrated calculator's screen. Surrounding this design were other decorative elements and a quote from Jeremiah 29:11 - all pasted on top of Jada's Carolina Blue graduation cap. By the way she talked about her future with poise and confidence, you can tell that Jada is going to be an incredible business leader one day.

"Now look at your mom and give me a laugh!"

Jada, her mother, and I spent Monday afternoon walking through campus capturing moments of joy and celebration. What was so special about this session was seeing Jada and her mother interact in between photos. Cuing clients to give a "fake laugh" for a photo or two is part of the portrait photographer experience. It's awkward for everyone in the moment, but the photos end up being some of the highlights. Whenever I asked Jada to give a laugh, she would look at her mom (who was our "stylist on set" during a very humid afternoon). Jada's smile grew even more joyful, as did her eyes. Even though I had just met these two women, I could sense their irreplaceable bond as mother and daughter. It was so special to be a part of this milestone for Jada and her family.

Dallas is Calling

What's next for Jada? COVID-19 hasn't stopped her plans. She's on her way to get her master's degree in accounting at UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. After that? She's off to Dallas, working for a firm in their advisory department. Jada, a native of Charlotte, NC, had an interest of living in Dallas since her freshman year at UNC. She wanted the opportunity to explore a new city that was similar to Charlotte.

Jada is confident, a true "go-getter," determined, and family-focused - And she's going to be an incredible CPA and business leader.
